Medicine Buddha Puja
Bhagavan with equal compassion for all,
Whose name, when merely heard,
dispels the suffering of lower realms,
Dispeller of disease and the three poisons,
I prostrate to Medicine Buddha
From the Medicine Buddha Puja
Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said the Medicine Buddha mantra alone is an easy way to save living beings from heavy suffering. “If animals can benefit from merely hearing the name of the Medicine Buddha, how can there be any doubt that human beings hearing the mantra will not be reborn in the lower realms?” Rinpoche went on to say more benefits and uses of the Medicine Buddha practice:
Medicine Buddha days are on the 8th and 15th of the Tibetan calendar. Medicine Buddha days are auspicious times to take the Eight Mahayana Precepts.
Prior to the puja, prostrations to the 35 Buddhas are offered. Puja participants are encouraged to bring offerings for the altar: fruit, biscuits, rice crackers, etc.
